Surf Contest Information

Hello Aptos Surfers,

As of 1230 on Friday, the surf contest is set for Waddell Creek. The location is on the border of Santa Cruz County and San Mateo County. Take Highway 1 north, through Santa Cruz City (Mission Street) and follow the coast.

For those of you that signed up to surf in the contest, I do not expect any of you to surf if you feel uncomfortable with the location. If for any reason, you decide not to surf once you get to the venue, please tell me. Your safety is my number one concern. I have formally requested the contest to be changed to Capitola because I feel it is better suited for the middle schools. Joe Clarke the coach from New Brighton Middle School has also request the venue change for the same reason. If we do have a change of venue, I will send out another e-mail and text with the updated information.

Waddell Creek is a remote location, so please bring food or money for the snack bar. Also, wear warm clothing. Attached to the e-mail is the Core notification of the venue. Please read it for additional information.

If anyone has questions about the location or anything else, feel free to call me at home, (662-8822) or my cell, (212-1791).

Thanks,

Conor

Conditions at Waddell this morning were 4', offshore and a bit mushy. NOT big and scary :) Sat. and Sun. should be about the same size. Also, there will be 2 lifeguards on duty with a PWC.
Both Jr. High on Saturday and High School on Sunday will be at Waddell. First heat at 7am sharp.
Please remember to bring $ for snacks at The CSSL Snack Bar (many drinks and goodies and Pizza My Heart will be bringing some slices) and for parking. There is a self pay parking kiosk at Waddell that the lifeguards asked us to honor.
The CSSL still needs help with the snack bar. It is raising $ for EVERYONE'S end of celebration and awards ceremony. A few hours from 15-20 people will get us through the season. Feel free to volunteer an hour or two in between watching the heats of your son, daughter, brother, sister, or friend.
See you all this weekend!
Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.
