Surf Practice, Cancelled on Friday Jan 29

I know... it's late notice, but the waves are so small and the tide is so low, that it would not be a great session. Capitola has too much kelp for the low tide, so I figured Cowells would be nice, but the swell dropped to a point no one would catch any waves. Sorry again and I hope you all got the message at school.

Surf Practice, Friday Jan 29

I am planning to have surf practice on Friday, but I don't know the location.... yet. There is a good chance we will be at Manresa. I will have a spot picked out before lunch on Friday, so check with the front office at school to get the latest information or call me at 212-1791.

Surf Practice CANCELLED for Friday Jan 22

I know it is now two weeks in a row, but the weather is forcing this cancellation. Due to the poor water quality, the debris in the water and the size of the surf, I don't feel it is safe to get in the water this week. Hopefully we can surf next week.

Surf Practice CANCELLED for Friday Jan 15

Sorry to cancel the practice, but I am not feeling the best. Big John Shepard is also under the weather, so at this point I have to cancel because we don't have anyone to get in the water with the team. JAN 23 SURF CONTEST POSTPONED

I have been notified that the contest set for Jan 23 at the Hook has been postponed. Here is the e-mail I received for your information.

The CSSL January 23 and 24 contest will be postponed for a few different reasons:

- It is during a 4 day weekend for SC County High Schools and we have been informed that many students will be out of town.

- We cannot use The Point or The Hook on Jan. 23/24. We were told it was a possiblity to use either venue when we initially got the permit, but construction is still going strong and we cannot hold a contest at either venue. We could hold it at 26th or The Mo, but since it is a 4-day weekend, we voted to reschedule and increase our odds that construction will be done and the contest can be at The Point or The Hook on a later date in March. If neither The Point or The Hook construction is done on the later March date, a contest at 26th or The Mo in March will hopefully be less challenging for our beginning surfers than having a contest at either venue in January.

So....we are in the process of deciding March permit date at The Hook or The Point to take the place of the January contest. We will send out an email as soon as everything is confirmed.

The February 20 and 21 contest is still a go for Manresa with Capitola as a back up.

Surf Practice Saturday Jan 9 at 2PM

For anyone interested, we are going to be having practice in Capitola at 2 pm on Saturday. John Shepard said the waves have been good and he called the spot and the time. Sorry for the late notice, but it is 6 pm on Friday and I just rolled in from Disneyland, so I have been out of the picture for a few days. If you feel like showing we will be there a few minutes early to check you in and get you in the water.

Possible Surf Practice Jan 9

Hey Surf Team,

Sorry that I have not set up any practices for the vacation period. Honestly, I wanted to have a few, but I was not able to get it together. I know we are not going back until the 12^th, so if there are waves this coming weekend, I will have a practice on Saturday January 9. I will send an e-mail, blog entry and a text about the time and place later in the week.
